Head of Engineering (m/f/d) 

Location: Hamburg / Remote (Germany)  

  
Our client is building the first payment infrastructure for the social economy, reducing cash-based overhead for welfare organizations. This SaaS based solution offers business and fiduciary accounts along with VISA payment cards, enabling welfare institutions to streamline expense management, custodial funds, and accounting automation.

Backed by well-known VCs and led by founders who previously scaled one of Europe’s largest neobanks, they are a company focused on culture, innovation, and financial stability.

Role Overview:

As the Head of Engineering, you’ll lead the technical direction and development of their platform. You’ll guide architectural decisions, oversee third-party integrations, and mentor a high-performing team to deliver a cutting-edge FinTech solution. This is a unique greenfield opportunity to build a platform from scratch and shape the future of payment services in the welfare sector.

Key Responsibilities: 

- Lead the technical direction and end to end development of their core platform
- Oversee architectural design, ensuring scalability and security  
- Integrate third-party services and payment systems  
- Build and manage a top-tier engineering team  
- Collaborate closely with product and leadership teams to drive innovation  

Qualifications:

- 5+ years experience working with Go
- Experience working in a FinTech startup and/or scale up

- Fluent in both German and English

- Previous leadership experience
- You live in Germany and are legally authorized to work here
